Chasers have that hound dog look

The A Team failed to make much of an inroad into resting Mill House's lead with a 3-2 defeat at the Greyhound.

Paul Goodwin saw off Big Norm in the first but Hound's lead was quickly clawed back as Rodney Storr beat Trevor Rees. The A Team then went ahead as Chris Nikolaj beat Peter Burchell but all things were even when Geoff Fairs put out John Staplehurst. It was win bonus for the Hound as Neil Burchell won the decider against Kim Stenning.

Kleiners are still in touch in third place despite a mauling at Hurst B, where Dazza put the hosts on their way with a big hit against Ted Stringer before King Lear made it 2-0 as he defeated Peter Edwards. It was match won as Steve King hit big against Davis Page, who had held the lead for much of the leg, and Chris Kirkham made it 4-0 when he won a last ball game against Derek Taylor. The brush was averted with a good point for Dilly as he hit big against The Giff, who was not that far behind.

Hurst A stay bottom after losing 3-2 to Fish at Isfield. Lady H put the visitors ahead with some dogged play against Ray Carpenter but another poor performance from The Old Fella left it all square as he was demolished by a big hit from Andy Brooks. Bobhall started well against Aitch, who took his time to warm up but finished with a 9K score to put Fish ahead. A 2k break from Les Whiteman was enough to keep him in front of Mama Hall to seal the match but Hurst had the last word as Papa Hall stayed calm despite pegging a 2K break to beat Chris Ashford.

Plough PG moved to the top of Division 1 with a convincing win over the Eight Bells. Darren Newnham took the first from Posh Bob and the second went to Chase Newman with a win over Tony Driver. A ladies match ensued, where Jan Bithell came out the victor over home skipper Lady Ros. Bells' star briefly shone as Nick Brown hit a massive 14330 past a luckless Ron Sheridan but Dave Knight made it four for the visitors as he took the last leg from Sir Trevor.

Bravos moved into third place with a home win over Saints. Nikki Hinkins made a personal best in her battle with TSO but a 3K break from the master gave Saints an early lead. An opening break of 2K+ put Bravos ahead and he kept the lead to leave it all square at the expense of Peter Geal. Manley Harveys pegged a 1K5 break that might have won him his leg against Paul M-R, who kept things together to give Bravos the lead. Spud finished with a 7K5 made up of two vital breaks in an otherwise dogged battle with Matt Geal. Determined play by Bob Ellis then earned Saints a second point despite a good start to the final leg by Lynne M-R

The Woolies once again put up a good performance but still cannot get past the two-point barrier in the league. HH USC's Sparky put the visitors ahead by beating Jan Hinkins but it was all square when John Brocklehurst played well to defeat Terry Gasson. Ron Wales won a low scoring leg against Lyn Storr to put The Club back in front but Woolies skipper Ann Stockinger took it to the last as she comprehensively beat Mick Kirwan. Into the decider and Woolies' Alex Slack played a good leg but could not prevent Bill Boyce winning a close leg by a couple of hundred points;
