This was the scene at Burgess Hill Cricket Club on Wednesday.

Geoff Brailey, the club’s secretary and assistant groundsman to Ian Plummer, was attempting to prepare the wicket for their T20 match against Crawley Eagles on Saturday.

But his efforts were in vain as the game was postponed until later in the month.

Burgess Hill’s Hugh Warmisham said: “I remember it snowed in April in 2013 just as our Aussie was arriving that year and he was pretty shocked!

“But we didn’t have a home game for 3 weeks after, that year.”

Burgess Hill are due to start their league season against local rivals Haywards Heath on May 7.
