Crawley Town beat Ryman Premier League team Worthing 2-1 in a high-tempo game played in hot conditions.
Bobson Bawling, who has normally played in midfield of defence, showed his versatility by delivering the winning goal.
Earlier Jason Banton gave Dermot Drummy’s side the lead which was then levelled just before half-time by Harvey Sparks.
Reds fielded a much-changed first half line-up with nine changes to the side which began against Brighton on Saturday.
They featured only two trialists for their fourth pre-season game of the summer against Worthing at Three Bridges FC.
Reds started the first half with only one other trialist, former Chelsea and Antwerp midfielder Billy Clifford, who is expected to be offered a contract on Wednesday.
A new player who has not featured in theiur pre-season games so far, former Liverpool and Sporting Lisbon midfielder Yalany Baio was on the bench and came on for the last half hour.
Crawley took the lead in the 14th minute when Jason Banton took advantage of a mistake at the back and calmly beat keeper Rikki Banks.
Reds had already had a couple of chances, with Clifford testing the Worthing custodian and Bawling receiving from Lewis Young before shooting wide.
Worthing had a dangerous spell and it took some great work by Josh Yorwerth to block a double strike from Matt Hards and Ben Pope.
The Rebels then equalised four minutes before the break with a cross by Zack Newton which led to a cracking strike from the edge of the area by Harvey Sparks.
It was Sparks who was the threat again seconds before half-time and inspired a superb save by keeper Glen Morris.
Bawling, playing as a lone striker, regained Reds the lead after 57 minutes with a shot from short-range after a good build-up.
Both sides then made several changes on the hour with Mark Connolly, Joe McNerney, Andre Blackman, James Collins and Yalany Baio replacing Alper Tursun, Chris Arthur, Josh Yorwerth and Jason Banton.
Ten minutes later Enzio Boldewijn, Jimmy Smith and Jordan Roberts came on for Josh Payne, Lewis Young and Billy Clifford.
Smith looked in postive mood from the moment he came on and created a chance for himself which is on target, with keeper Banks holding, but the offside whistle had already blown.
New signing Collins had a go and went just wide before Smith had an effort blocked.
Collins then saw a thunderous blast hit the crossbar and bounce out after an entertaining one-two with Smith.
