Hillians boss looking to add a striker
A new striker is on Ian Chapman’s radar after the Burgess Hill boss admitted a lack of goals was hurting his side.
“I am looking to sign a goal-scorer, although probably not before the weekend,” Chapman said in the wake of his side’s League Cup exit to Bognor on penalties on Tuesday night.
A keenly contested match at a chilly Leylands Park saw the Ryman Premier side just squeak through 4-3 in the shoot-out after it had finished goalless over the 90 minutes.
It meant Hillians failed to find the back of the net for a third straight game following league defeats against Merstham and Faversham Town on Saturday, and Chapman said: “It’s been a bit like that recently and I was again disappointed not to score any goals.
“We had four or five chances, but like on Saturday we are not taking them.
“I was pleased with the performance, young Curtis (Gayler) was fantastic on his debut and we had some youngsters out there. But until we start scoring we’re not going to fulfil our potential.”
Burgess Hill are currently 14th in the Ryman South table and go to Walton Casuals on Saturday.
