Honour in defeat for Heath teams and Wivelsfield Green

HAYWARDS HEATH battled all the way but were disappointed to go down 4-0 at Anchorians in their first game for four weeks.

Aftering going 4-0 down, Heath showed plenty of fight and determination and were unlucky to peg back only two goals through Brid Carroll and Jen Weller (penalty).

They continued to press and were unlucky when player-of-the-match Ange McPhee shot against the crossbar after an impressive run.

With six regulars missing, there were debuts for Stacey Johnson and Maddie Wren.

Heaths 2nds were also unlucky, surrendering a 2-0 lead in losing a close fought match 2-3 against unbeaten league leaders South Park.

Jinny Ursell produced a candidate for goal-of-the-season as she volleyed home from a Jo-Blaise Newton cross after 40 minutes.

Goalkeeper Bex Smallman finally succumbed to an injury received in the first half and was replaced by Lou Creasey as Jade Elphick came on for her club debut.

Heath doubled their lead one minute in through Casey Dunford but the visitors then stepped up their game to snatch victory.

WIVELSFIELD Green will take heart from an improved second-half display despite crashing 6-1 at Dorking in their opening game of 2012.

Hard working striker Emma Chrimes starred and it was she who won the penalty that Hayley Plummer converted to peg it back to 4-1 on the stroke of half time.

There were some good saves by Tori Owen in a battling Wivelsfield performance.
