Burgess Hill Runners were out doing what they do best this weekend, smashing their personal bests at the annual Brighton Half Marathon for the 25th anniversary of the popular event.

Although breezy and cold, conditions were great for setting fast times along with it being one of the flattest terrains in the Half Marathon calendar.

Over 40 Burgess Hill Runners took part and were led home by a seemingly flying Neil Grigg in 1:23:02 followed by Jon Boxall in 1:25:37, which was a new PB he was over the moon with.

The ladies were led home with another fine run from Sharona Harrington in 1:37:24, which was a fantastic PB for her as well.

Amongst the other runners, it was testimony to the great coaching that the club provides that there were new personal bests for: Joe Carey (1:33:35), Leigh Smith (1:39:04), Trevor Symes (1:39:08), Simon Thompson (1:44:10), Mark Craigs (1:46:41), Catherine Kempton (1:46:17), Lee Crow (1:46:18), Mark Lavis (1:49:18), Jackie Osborne (1:51:19), Jason Wadey (1:51:29), Vicky Connolly (1:53:38), Jill Bennett (1:54:41), Nick Dawson (1:55), Helen Slater (1:55), Katia Hannah (1:55:32), Paul Russell (1:58:44), Karen Harvey (1:59), Carole Mills (2:02:35). Nina Ecroyd (2:04:54), Hannah Watkins (2:09:16), Ann Savidge (2:15:55) and Claire Giles (2:16:50). There was also 5 first timers at the 13.1 mile distance: Andrew Pullen (1:54:18), Laura Fowles (2:00:02), Tracy Evans (2:08:21), Melanie Acres (2:10:20) and Jennifer Crowley (2:17:48) should all be proud of their excellent achievements.
