Haywards Heath 2nd XV were playing at home and hosted Hove IV in what turned out to be an end to end thriller with neither side being able to gain the upper hand.

Some good old fashioned forward play augmented by the wily back line meant that Heath were able to take what looked like a decisive 17 -12 lead with 10 minutes remaining against an experienced Hove outfit who have played regularly together.

But Hove were not to be beaten and with about 7 minutes left a mix up at a Heath scrum let the Hove 9 scamper in to secure a 17-17 draw.

Great performances from some Heath players of old including the returning Dave Funnell, mixed with a sprinkling of current Heath Colts, meant an unbeaten afternoon for the club and a packed clubhouse following the game.
