Paul ‘The Machine’ Sargent was the first Burgess Hill Runner to finish, in a magnificent new PB of 2:47:17, knocking 8 minutes off his time last year. Neil Grigg was the next in for Burgess Hill in 3:12:06, followed by Martin Skeats in 3:35:04 (PB) who deserves a special mention for finishing in a lofty 73rd place in his age category. London wasn’t the only major city Marathon taking part this week and it was club member Susan Lyle who ventured over to Boston, USA to sample their event on Monday and finished in a superb 3:52:14.

Amongst other events taking place on Sunday Stephanie Harding was representing the club at the Southampton Half Marathon and ran an excellent new PB of 2:04:12. Dan Foord led the way on Sunday at the Angmering Bluebell 10 mile trail event which is becoming increasingly popular for its picturesque scenery.
