Burgess Hill RFC, the Sussex All Blacks, have hosted their annual 7’s and Tag tournaments in aid of Breast Cancer Now.
On a warm and sunny day the great and the good of the 7’s circuit descended on Southway Rec. 9 teams and c100 players including full time 7’s specialists and 2 internationals took part in the strongest lineup in its 3 year history.
Last years winners DSA Valley Assassins were joined by Sussex Sea Horses, Worthing Sea Cows, White Horse 7’s, Old Boys, Outcasts, Spartans and representing Burgess Hill were Pain Train and the Commando Elite.
The opening rounds delivered some mesmerising rugby with Sea Horses, DSA, White Horse and Pain Train showing their skills and flair.
The cup semi finals saw White Horse beat the Seahorses and DSA win in the last play of the game vs Pain Train.
In the plate final the Sea Cows turned it on dispatching the Commando Elite.
In the cup final the White Horse team took advantage of an injury hit DSA team winning 26-0.
The quality of the rugby on show including a splattering of Fijian magic was top draw and the refereeing was right up there.
In the family tag tournament, 6 teams took part some sporting fancy dress in what was a fully inclusive and fun tournament for all ages, genders, shapes and sizes.
Frodo’s fighters won the main cup sporting a very strong squad including some county standard junior players and a championship women’s player.
In the plate, try babies secured the silverware with some wonderful rugby from some of our youngest members.
All in all it was a wonderful day raising money for one of our charity partners.
The Sussex All Blacks seniors are one month into their pre season schedule ahead of their warm up games starting on the 22nd August. With 3 sides producing international and academy players in last few seasons, we cater for the elite and social player via our One Team One Dream motto. With onsite gym, external S&C equipment and large coaching team we can support all rugby needs.
