Northlands go a long way

Northlands Wood won all their matches against four other schools to win the Mid-Sussex Sports Partnership mixed tag-rugby tournament at Oathall Community College.

The day was made even more special as one of the team, Sam Griffiths, won the longest kick competition and took home a rugby ball signed by Harlequins and England star Jake Henry, who was the special guest for the day.

Going through to the county finals at Horsham RFC, Northlands enjoyed more success as they made it through the group stages to the quarter finals and won that before finally going out narrowly to Silverdale in the semis.

A week later they were invited to take part in the regional finals, again at Horsham RFC, where they faced even tougher competition from schools across sussex and Surrey. Despite playing well and with plenty of spirit to take all their opponents close, they failed to make it through the group stages.

The team pictured at the Mid Sussex tournament are (back row, from left): Kirsty Beckwith, Daniela Jerbi, Jake Henry, Kirsty Wadmore and Sophie Vickery. Front: Aidan Hother, Toby Smith, Myles Rice, Remi Cruttenden, Sam Griffiths and Isaac Brigden.
