ENDING her junior badminton career on a real high note on Saturday was Mid Sussex player Jess Bennett.

The St Paul’s Catholic College student made it four doubles successes in the last four competition with Rhiannon Turner-Noakes as they won a Badminton England silver tournament in Luton. Turner Noakes (pictured with Bennett, right) is a pupil at Heathfield Community College.

Their first match proved the hardest of the day as they finally prevailed against a pair from Worcestershire after losing the first (10-15, 15-7, 15-13).

The Sussex duo then won the rest of their box matches against pairings from Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire before edging out another Bucks duo 15-12, 15-13 in the semi finals.

A mixed pairing from Hertfordshire and host county Bedfordshire provided the final opposition but they were comfortably dispatches 15-7, 15-5.

For both girls it was their last competition as juniors but they will hope to do well and continue representing Sussex as seniors. They first met aged 11 when attending county trials and started playing doubles two years ago.
