ON Peter King’s latest trip to South Africa he did not have room to pack any clothes and so had to buy a whole new wardrobe out there.

With such an emphasis on summer wear, he is now hoping for a good summer over here so he can get his money’sworth!

The reason Peter had no room in his luggage was that he was carrying three sets of football kit to present to Bob Maredi, who runs several boys and girls teams at the Rabie Ridge sports stadium just outside Johannesburg.

Peter, who has a brother-in-law in South Africa, went out a few years ago with some strips and was put in touch with Rabie Ridge by the Rotary Club.

This time around he was representing the St Francis Social & Sports Club and St Francis Rangers, with whom Bob Maredi has promised to keep in touch. Peter is on the social club’s executive committee.
