A spectacular plant grown from seeds collected more than 20 years ago has been the centre of attention at the South East Rhododendron show.
The Rhododendron seeds were first discovered in Bhutan in 1987 during a botanical expedition and the plant named 'Tiger's Nest' has since thrived at High Beeches Gardens in Handcross.

Rhododendron arboreum grows widely in the Himalayas and are not usually very hardy in the UK. It is thought that the original Rhododendron no longer survives in Bhutan.

The plant is currently 5ft tall and will continue to grow. In five years time cuttings or layers can be taken for propagation purposes.
