THOUSANDS of people packed the streets of Burgess Hill to enjoy the town's biggest free show of the year.
More than 20 visiting Bonfire Societies from Sussex paraded in style to put a sparkle in the annual bonfire carnival organised by the hard-working Burgess Hill Bonfire Society, which hosted the event.
Burgess Hill's attractive Aztec tribe led the way as a trail of dazzling costumes and flaming torches wound its way through the town in two processions.
The first from Cyprus Road through to Silverdale Road gave the youngest children the chance to see the show before being taken home to bed.
The second that left Silverdale Road just after 8.30pm gave the older children and adults the chance to follow on behind as it made its way across town for a spectacular firework display and the lighting of the bonfire.
It is believed the warm evening attracted one of the biggest crowds to see the event.
