LOCAL producers are helping a retailing revival in Haywards Heath.
New in-town supermarket Southern Cooperatives opens on May 12 and fast food chain KFC is branching out into South Road, giving shoppers more food outlets than for many years.
And adding to the busy feel is a thriving Farmers' Market on the first Saturday and second and fourth Thursday of each month.

The market at the Orchards shopping centre runs from 7am and 2pm with 14 regular stallholders registered.

Centre manager Ian Goodridge, who organises the event, said he wanted more to join.

"The market has had a bit of a chequered past here in Haywards Heath with varying degrees of success but it has really taken off at the Orchards.

"It creates a lovely atmosphere and busy feel and draws people in, which helps everyone here, and on a sunny day it's a lovely place to be, although there is still room for more diversity."

Mr Goodridge said the imminent arrival of KFC and Southern Cooperatives could only be good for the town.
