Detectives are appealing for witnesses to two armed robberies which happened within three days, one involving a handgun and the other a knife.
The first and most serious offence was at the Cheltenham and Gloucester Building Society in Church Walk, Burgess Hill.

Three women staff members were in the branch when a man walked in and pulled a gun.

He was given money by one cashier but complained about the small amount and another cashier opened a second till and gave him more, amounting to several thousand pounds.

Two days after the Burgess Hill robbery, staff at the Wine Rack off-licence in Franklynn Road, Haywards Heath were held up by a man alleged to have been armed with a kitchen knife.

On Monday a man appeared at Crawley Magistrates Court on four charges in connection with the incident. Mark Brown, 35, of Margate, Kent, was remanded in custody until Thursday.
