The Cuckfield-based ladies community choir hope their charity concert – for Sussex Cancer Fund and Tearfund – will top the £2,000 they raised for them in 2015.

Most tastes across our musical history will be catered for – from Orlando Gibbons’ ‘The Silver Swan’ and Henry Purcell’s ‘Come ye Sons of Art’ through to ’60s favourite ‘Let’s Twist Again’ and Rod Stewart’s 1975 hit ‘Sailing’.

From across the Pond the choir and their friends will feature London-born George Shearing’s ‘Lullaby of Birdland’, as well as songs by Irving Berlin and George Gershwin. Their instrumental pieces will include the Swan (cello) from Saint-Saens’ ‘Carnival of the Animals’ and John Lewis’ ‘Django’ (piano).

The Singing Allsorts are a community choir formed in 2007 by their musical director Jane Haughton. They meet weekly at 8pm. Click here to find out more.

Tickets at £8 are available from the Post Office, Cuckfield High Street, and the Wealden Stores and, if available, for £10 at the door (Donation Bar open at 7pm).
