After a hugely-successful concert in May to celebrate 30 years under the baton of musical director Michael Stefan Wood, Burgess Hill Symphony Orchestra have launched themselves into their new season.
Their next concert will take place on Saturday, November 17 at St Andrew’s Church, Junction Road, Burgess Hill starting at 7.30pm.
Spokeswoman Alison Boother said: “The highlight of the concert will be a performance of the Mozart Piano Concerto No 17 in G major-K345 by up-and-coming Romanian pianist Alexandra Silocea.
“Born in 1984, Alexandra has studied the piano for many years, under the guidance of several internationally renowned teachers. In April 2011 Alexandra’s debut CD, Prokofiev Piano Sonatas 1-5, was released by Avie Records and it received very favourable reviews in the music industry. She is currently working towards a second CD release and recitals in Austria, Italy, France and the UK that will culminate with a debut concert with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Vladimir Jurowski at the Eastbourne Congress Theatre on December 9th.
“The rest of the programme will include performances of Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, a symphonic poem by Claude Debussy and Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 in C major -The Great.”
