DURRINGTON will get its own twin towers if a planning application is approved by Worthing planning councillors.

Outline permission is being sought to demolish the two-storey office building formerly occupied by Lloyds TSB Registrars in The Causeway, north of Durrington station, and replacing it with a high-rise homes and shops complex.
This would be adjacent to the present nine-storey former Lloyds tower, which is being refurbished by the owner of both sites, Cantium (Durrington) Ltd and Pave Second Nominees 10 Ltd.
Its plan is for 930 square metres of retail floor space at ground level below 111 apartments comprising eight, nine and 10 storeys in stepped form.
The planning brief says: "The 111 homes proposed will achieve best use of this previously developed site, as encouraged in national and local planning policy.
"The inclusion of 35 affordable new homes (31.5 per cent of the total) will be a significant contribution to the achievement of the council's housing strategy."
Equiniti took over the registrars' business from Lloyds TSB last year.
Staff there are now very concerned about being made redundant, but Equiniti would not confirm if, or when, redundancies would be made.
