Two great musicians, who both played at Coolham Live Music Club last year with their own bands, return on Saturday, April 11.

This time, however, they will be playing together for a one-off performance with a world-class rhythm section.

Kent singer, songwriter and blues harpist Katie Bradley came into the spotlight with her 2012 itunes hit ‘I hear the river’, which received a nomination for best original song in the British Blues Awards.

She has supported and collaborated with Luther Allison, Suzanne Vega, Georgie Fame, and Geno Washington and recently completed a 22-date UK tour with US blues guitar ace Kirk Fletcher. Katie has been complimented by Paul Jones for her intuitive harmonica playing and in 2014 world-famous harmonica maker Anthony Dannecker endorsed Katie with her own customised harps, uniquely hand crafted in response to her style.

Norfolk based Ron Sayer Jr began playing guitar at seven and was gigging by the time he was ten, taking the rocky road from Hank Marvin to Robert Johnson, stopping off pretty much everywhere in-between.

Providing the rhythm and drive behind these two accomplished performers will be Sam Kelly and Spy Austin, who will need no introduction to Coolham regulars. Five times winner of Blues In Britain magazine’s ‘UK Drummer of the Year’ award, Sam is acknowledged as one of the finest drummers around today.

For years Sam has collaborated with Spy Austin, who is regarded as one of the best professional reggae/soul bass players on the London circuit.

Opening the evening will be the Red Butler Duo. Vocalist Jane Pearce and guitarist Alex Butler are the front half of this Sussex-based blues/rock outfit, a band that has been attracting a lot of interest since the release of their debut album Freedom Bound in 2014.

Alex is just 21 years old. He teaches guitar and formed Red Butler in 2012. His musical influences include Derek Trucks, Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Gary Moore.

Jane Pearce was brought up listening to artists like Gary Moore and Muddy Waters. It’s this raw and honest musical background that provides the basis for her well-crafted vocals and exuberant stage performances.
