East Grinstead children’s author Stuart Simmonds offers Harry the Karate Monkey
East Grinstead-based ex-cricketer and children’s author Stuart Simmonds is in print with Harry the Karate Monkey.
The book was originally written as a bedtime story for Stuart’s youngest daughter Lucy and follows on from Stuart’s Hannah the Spanner series of books.
Harry the Karate Monkey is the first book in a new seven-book series. All the books are designed with bedtime reading in mind.
Stuart said: “I loved reading to my daughters, Hannah and Lucy, every night. For me, it was one of my favourite parts of their childhood and we still talk about it as a family. I want to bring this same magic to other families, to help parents and children alike get as much pleasure from reading together as I did with my children.”
The books are colourfully illustrated by Bill Greenhead, who has previously worked on Charlie Smith Super Kid (Emma Lynch) and Animal Avengers (Malorie Blackman).
“In the first book in the Harry the Karate Monkey series, mad scientists, secret agents and the baddest of baddies all come together with a stuffed toy monkey and a little girl called Lucy. Together, they embark on the most amazing adventure of their lives… so far!”
Stuart, who is also the author of Watching with my Heroes, is father to Hannah and Lucy for whom he has managed to turn their beloved bedtime tales into books, all in time for both their 21st birthdays.
Harry the Karate Monkey is available from Waterstones and bookshops, Amazon and direct from: www.stuhead.co.uk. Published by StuHead Publishing Ltd, the series of seven books is being released over the course of 2020-2021.
Aimed primarily at four to nine-year olds, they are funny and witty enough to entertain the adults, whilst the children enjoy the stories and pictures, Stuart says.
