Choir’s new programme

Following successful concerts in Henfield and Worthing in 2010 and in Arundel earlier this year, a cappella choir Brighton Consort is once again venturing into West Sussex to present a new programme Shoreham.

The programme, subtitled Songs of Passion And Torment, features Italian madrigals by Monteverdi and Lassus, contrasted with the 20th century Fire Songs – settings by American composer Morten Lauridsen of Italian renaissance poems. The choir also welcomes the soloist Yair Avidor, who will complement the singing with his lute music.

The programme, under the direction of Katie Thomas, will be performed on June 18 at St Mary-de-Haura Church, Shoreham as part of the Adur Festival. The performance will be at 7.30pm. Tickets and information: www.brightonconsort.org.uk or 07584 199142.
