Folk club showcase

The Willows Folk Club in Arundel brings together two bands each performing a 40-minute set for another in the Club’s series of Showcase Special evenings on Wednesday, September 21.

Spokesman Chris Davis said: “Shipwrecked are a fine new group playing folk music with a warm, inviting sound, with lovely gentle harmonies and a varied range of instrumentation, not just guitar but also percussion, pipes, whistles, and more.

“The trio, featuring multi-instrumentalist Martin Littleboy alongside well-known Sussex folk stalwarts Alan Wheeler & Anne Sartain, have proved a hit at several of the Willows’ Open Stage Nights, and their extended Showcase set promises more of the same.

“Harvest Home are fast becoming one of the most popular folk-based acts around Sussex for their breathtaking, soaring harmonies and brilliant selection of material, presenting some of the best in traditional and contemporary folk (with a few other genres mixed in).

“Their relaxed, engaging presentation and tight sound mark them as a really entertaining and sought-after live band. One of the Willows’ earliest Showcase acts, Harvest Home return to offer another feast of fine folk music.”

Entrance on Wednesday, September 21 is £2. The Willows Folk Club now meets every Wednesday at 8pm in the function room of Arundel Football Club, Mill Road, Arundel, situated to the rear of the large public car park opposite Arundel Castle.
