Fronted by 20 year old songstress Lauren Bayross-Payne the band have rapidly built a network of avid followers while playing pubs, bars and festivals across the South East.

Sound and Motion Magazine hailed Lauren as one of the best new up-and-coming acts from the region and said she’s wooing fans with her soulful voice and sincere lyrics.

Lauren recently took time out from helping her parent’s chocolate business, Cocoa Loco to speak to the County Times.

The singer said she’s delighted with the band’s success and announced some major changes planned for the group.

“We want to add four more members including a bassist, pianist, drummer and violinist,” said Lauren.

However, despite this major transformation Lauren insisted their folk genre, which was well received at Lowde Fest and Eastbourne Extreme Festival this summer, won’t be changed.

The Collyer’s graduate instead stressed it’s required for the band to take the next step up.

She said: “We’re taking time trying to find the right people to play with and once we’ve done that we’ll be able to try and do bigger shows.”

Once it’s a seven piece, the band aims to release a new single in October produced by Will Martin and then launch a new single with three big shows in Brighton, Crawley and Horsham.

Lauren is a student at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, renowned for producing young talents including the recent chart topping sensation Tom Odell.

Tom’s success has inspired the band whose influences include acoustic artists Gabrielle Aplin and Lucy Rose. However, Lauren claims the band does have their own unique sound, thanks to the diverse musical background of her guitarists.

David Richmond and Alex Welton, both 20, were known as heavy metal guitarists, but have now swapped mosh-pits and stage dives for the relative calm of Lauren Rebecca Music.

“They’ve definitely mellowed, can’t imagine them playing any other genre to what they are now, definitely nothing heavy,” said Lauren reflecting on her band mates.

The group has been together for just over a year and Lauren said they have no particular pre-gig rituals, but she keeps the band in check by enforcing one important rule – ‘no drinking on stage’.
