Horsham’s Viennese concert
HORSHAM Music Circle’s New Year Viennese Concert welcomes in the New Year in the Drill Hall, Horsham, on Saturday, January 7 at 3pm.
Spokeswoman Jill Elsworthy said: “This festive afternoon concert features the Enesqu Quartet, violinists Rachel Ellis and Sara Stagg, Barry Sutton on viola and Kay Tucker on cello, a string ensemble from the Horsham Symphony Orchestra and dancers from Glynde Place Studio who have joined together to create a special performance which will raise valuable funds for both the Circle and the Orchestra.
“Guest artists are sopranos Jill Elsworthy and Helen Whittington. Helen has sung for a number of UK opera companies, appeared at the National Opera Studio and London theatres and toured the USA with London City Opera. She is one half of the two women classical cabaret duo Flamin’Dames.
“Tom Jeffers will compere the event and perform some genuine Viennese light and frothy Schrammelmusick. They will present everyone’s favourite instrumental and vocal works by the Strauss family and other composers of the era. These will include the Blue Danube Waltz, Tales from the Vienna Woods, Tritsch-Tratsch Polka, Roses from the South and the Radetsky March. There will be an extended interval when you can purchase tea and homemade Viennese pastries.”
