Melodies and mirth at quartet’s concert

Music will fill the interior of Danny House, Hurstpierpoint, when the Lea Graham Quartet performs a summer concert.

Spokeswoman Susan Fleet, who is among the singers, said: “Sure to bring melodies and mirth in equal measure to Danny, the Quartet’s Summer Serenade will include popular opera, songs by Gershwin, Gilbert & Sullivan, Eric Coates and Novello, to name but a few.

“With patriotic songs also featured in the programme, the evening is in tune with the long history of Danny House – which includes a stay from Prime Minister David Lloyd George during World War One to decide the terms of the armistice agreement.”

The evening promises to provide an eclectic mix of musical styles intertwined with humour, which has become the hallmark of the Quartet, Susan said.

The singers – Susan Fleet, Belinda Sharp, Chris Simms and David Farmer – plan to serenade the audience with summer music.

“It’s for a good cause too. All proceeds will be donated to St Catherine’s Hospice, Crawley. It is dedicated to providing end-of-life care for over 30 years to people living in Crawley, Horsham, Mid Sussex and East Surrey. The concert is limited to just 90 seats, and tickets are expected to sell fast.”

Summer Serenade takes place at 7.30pm on Friday, July 25, at Danny House, Hurstpierpoint. Tickets are available from Burgess Hill Help Point, Mint House, Hurstpierpoint, or call 01444 870000.
