“I have just moved down to Worthing and am starting a new night here called Helter Skelter which will be held at the new bar The Libertine on Portland Road,” says Andy who is also the singer of the UK band The Moons.

“My girlfriend grew up in Worthing and left a few years ago. We moved to Worthing a couple of weeks ago. We have had a baby, and she wanted to be near her family.

“I am still getting used to Worthing, to be honest. I don’t really know what is going. Hence I wanted to put a night on. I was asking around and there wasn’t really anything that is like what I would usually want to go to.

“But I found this new bar which has been newly refurbished in the town centre, and it looks really good. It’s beautiful. The sort of music will be soul music, 60s psychedelic, rock ‘n’ roll, that sort of thing. It will be free entry every month.”

Andy’s first Helter Skelter night will be Saturday, September 5, and if the first night goes well, the aim will be to stage it once a month, on the first Saturday of the month (8pm till 1am).

“We will be playing the best Mod, soul, rock n roll, psychedelic, ska and more. Entry is free, and we hope that all like-minded people find this to be the place to be.”

Andy will be DJ’ing, as will his girlfriend Tara Griffin: “We can’t both DJ at the same time… or we could, but it wouldn’t work! It will be maybe me for an hour and then Tara will take over for an hour, and we will alternate. I will be socialising in the meantime. I don’t really know anyone around here, and she hasn’t been here for a few years.

“We are a little bit different in style, but we all come from the same place. There will be a good old mixture of music going on. I play in bands as well, so it will be a nice escape for me.”

And for Tara too.

“I am constantly touring around the world, but Tara doesn’t really get much time for herself. By putting on this night, it means that she gets to DJ again as well as being a model.”

And her family is nicely on hand to look after 19-month-old Luna.

Andy will soon be on his travels again, heading off to the States and then Japan with Paul Weller before returning for a UK arena tour at the end of the year when dates will include the Brighton Centre on Friday, November 20.

Andy has been in Paul Weller’s band since April 2008 and has contributed to his last three albums. Andy’s biggest contribution is to Paul’s latest album Saturns Pattern in which Andy did all the backing vocals as well as adding music instruments throughout the tracks.

Andy’s own band The Moons have had three top 30 studio albums and a recent live album called Live at Bush Hall which sold out on ltd vinyl. The band are currently writing a new album with hopes of release in 2016.
