Paul istop guest

IRISH singer/songwriter Paul Brady will be the guest performer at Lewes Town Hall on Saturday February 26 at 7.30pm (tickets on 01323 841414).

Spokesman Bob Perry said: “Paul Brady, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is one of Ireland’s most enduringly-popular artists and continues to push out the boundaries not only of his own talent but of Irish contemporary music.

“A 50s child born and raised in Strabane, he was playing piano and guitar by the age of 11, and his love of Irish traditional music led to him joining The Johnstons in the early 60s.

“He recorded seven albums with The Johnstons and performed regularly with them in Ireland and then London and New York before returning to Dublin in 1974 to join Planxty, the premier Irish folk band of the early 1970s.

“The next few years saw him establish his popularity and reputation as one of Ireland’s best interpreters of traditional song and gradually such celebrated artists as Tina Turner, Carole King, Simon & Garfunkel, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker and Carlos Santana began to record his material.”
