The science of Doctor Who revealed

Doctor Who stories are many things: thrilling adventures, historical dramas, and science fiction tales. But how much of the science is real? And how much is fiction?

Weaving together authoritative scientific discussion with stories and clips from the television show, this all-ages event will address subjects as diverse as alien life, regeneration, artificial intelligence and the practicalities (and paradoxes) of time travel. 

The Scientific Secrets of Doctor Who is a new book by Doctor Who writer Simon Guerrier and Public Astronomer Dr Marek Kukula.

The authors are coming to the Sallis Benney Theatre, Brighton, on Saturday July 16, to promote their book with an illustrated presentation on the science behind the show.

With chapters on space travel, evolution and multiverse theory, the book demonstrates how Doctor Who uses science to inform its unique style of storytelling – and just how close it has often come to predicting real scientific discoveries.

Following the talk Simon and Marek will answer questions from the audience.
