Second national showcase selection for Lindfield artist

Lindfield artist Thomas Allen has been chosen for the second year running for the prestigious National Open Art Competition.

Selected from a record more than 2,200 entries – Thomas’ work will be exhibited at The Royal College of Art in London from October 25 to November 7.

This time round the judges have chosen a pen and ink drawing entitled ‘An Imagined Loss’. After the RCA, the exhibition will move to the Minerva Theatre, Chichester, from November 14 to 30.

Thomas, who earlier this year won the Anthony J Lester Art Critic Award, said he was delighted to be exhibiting in the National Open Art Competition again, especially considering the high calibre of the judges behind this year’s selection, They include: Brian Sewell, art writer and critic for London’s Evening Standard; Barbara RA, Scottish contemporary painter; Michael Hoppen, owner of the Michael Hoppen Gallery, London; James Green, assistant director, Stephen Friedman Gallery; and David Middleton from Towry.
