Since then enthusiasts have been flocking to the park to give them a try.

Mid Sussex District Council worked closely with the skateboarders, skaters and BMX bikers who regularly use St John’s Skate Park to make sure they were able to have their say on the proposed improvements.

After consulting with the skaters the council has installed a brand new jump box and made significant upgrades to the existing half pipe.

Councillor Pru Moore, said: “We have a thriving skater community in Burgess Hill and they are passionate about

improving skate park facilities around the town.

“It was great to talk with them about how to improve this skate park and the new equipment we’ve installed has made a real difference. It all looks like a lot of fun and I hope young people continue to head on down to St John’s Park and try the new equipment for themselves.”

Toby Webb from the Burgess Hill Skate Park Facebook page added:“I’d just like to say thanks on behalf of everyone that uses the park for the investment of time and money that everyone involved has put in to improving the park; it really is appreciated.

“The new flat bank behind the mini ramp is much better, safer and is already getting a lot of use, which is a positive indicator of its future success. It’s great that all of these improvements have been completed just as we roll into the height of summer too, perfect timing.”
