The cast of 45 rehearsed solidly for five days to create Junior Musicality, which they performed twice at The Hawth Studio, Crawley, on August 22, to a packed audience of family and friends.

The Junior Musicality show contained 30 songs from a wide range of musicals, providing the opportunity for many members of the cast to sing a solo section and have their moment in the spotlight.

The show set covered many different musical genres, from shows that spanned the years.

Established favourites included songs from Mary Poppins, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Annie, while more recent hits entertained the audience from Sunny Afternoon, Book of Mormon and Beautiful, The Carole King Musical.

Show director and producer Nicci Hopson said: “We had a rollercoaster week!

“Producing a show in such a short time is a real challenge but it provides the students with the chance to really immerse themselves in the whole process.

“They rose admirably to the challenge and it allowed us to include some complicated dance choreography.

“It really was a superb team effort.

“Feedback from the show has been fantastic and there’s no doubt that the students were happy to spend a week of their summer holiday performing.”

During the evening Ariel collected money for their new nominated charity Chestnut Tree House, raising £100 across the two performances.

Ariel Drama Academy runs weekly academies in Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, East Grinstead, Crawley, and Steyning for students aged 5 to 19 years.
