With 32 displays, prepared by arrangers from St Mary’s and other local churches, schools and businesses, there will be a beautiful spectacle of colour and fragrance.

The theme this year is ‘Jesu Joy – celebrating the life of Christ according to St Luke’ with each arrangement representing a stage in Christ’s life.

The festival opens with a concert on Wednesday, June 17 (7.30pm), given by St Mary’s choir, and closes with a Celebration Service on Sunday, June 21, at 6.30pm.

There will also be Country Dancing in the Causeway on the Thursday by St Mary’s schoolchildren at 2pm. The Bethany Café, serving light refreshments, will be open throughout the festival.

“We put on St. Mary’s Flower Festival each year as a joyful celebration of God’s creation, and to invite our many visitors to join us in giving Him glory and hearty thanks for all His many blessings in our lives,” explains Canon Guy Bridgewater, Vicar of St. Mary’s.

“This year the theme ‘Jesu Joy’ especially recognises our very deepest source of joy, which comes from following Jesus Christ, and reflecting upon His life and teaching in the Gospel.”

Organisers are grateful to all their sponsors for making this possible. In addition to St Mary’s, flower arrangers are from Brighton Road Baptist Church, Holy Trinity, St Marks, St Andrews Methodist Church, United Reform Church, St Johns RC Church, London Road Methodist Church, St Mary’s School and St Mary’s Nursery and Lighthouse, the St. Mary’s Sunday school.

All monies raised go towards maintaining the historic building.
