Comedy club returns with more high quality stand-up

A cavalcade of talent returns to Haywards Heath this month, as Danny’s Comedy Club unveils its 2014 season of live stand-up shows.

The popular Birch Hotel will again be the venue between now and the end of the year, happening on the last Friday of the month.

The club’s owner, Daniel Kington, plans to deliver more of the same high quality comedy and singing acts as he successfully brought to the area in 2013.

Daniel said: “The break over Christmas was actually a busy time for me, as scores of acts continued to come forward requesting a spot at Danny’s Comedy Club.

“Now that we’re firmly established on the UK comedy scene with a reputation for warm atmosphere, a welcoming, friendly audience and good behind-the-scenes organisation, acts are queuing up, literally from all over the country, to perform for us.”

With comedians realising that it is possible to fulfil a gig in both London or Brighton and Haywards Heath on the same night, demand to appear at Danny’s Comedy Club, is exceeding capacity, with agents and more established comedians seeking to get involved.

Daniel said: “I’d like to get a second venue for the club in 2014. The trend for comedy clubs is slowly moving away from the big cities and into the towns, particularly in the commuter belts. People work hard all week and deserve some downtime, without a trek to find quality entertainment.”

Danny’s Comedy Club returns to the Birch Hotel on Friday, January 31, with a brand new line-up of acts, including Richard Todd, a brilliant professional comedian, artist and slightly frenzied Geordie. Richard has scooped a number of prestigious accolades. He was the Amused Moose winner in 2012, Up The Creek One to Watch finalist 2012 and the Leicester Square New Act Runner up in 2011.

Sheraz Yousef is a popular new talent on the comedy circuit. His clever and slickly delivered act is a joy to see.

Danny’s Comedy Club is also proud to welcome Stephen Bailey, who has been the warm-up act for ITV’s Loose Women and is a regular on the Edinburgh Fringe. He has performed at most of the country’s top comedy venues and has won a number of prestigious stand-up competitions, including Brighton’s Laughing Horse.

Nick Root’s passion for performing him led him to start a comedy career in September 2012 by enrolling in a comedy course in London. Since then Nick has performed more than 150 gigs, mostly in London, but has recently branched out to the South East, including numerous charity events.
