Gilbert & Sullivan Society members show talents at music hall

The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Sussex staged a highly enjoyable Olde Tyme Music Hall in December, in which members and friends of the society were given the opportunity to display their varied talents.

BBC actor John Samson was the traditional Chairman, and the ‘turns’ were organised and accompanied at the piano by Christine Colbourne.

The society’s next event is their Annual Celebrity Luncheon on Sunday, January 18, at Haywards Heath’s Birch Hotel, when the famous actor/baritone Richard Suart will be guest speaker.

Although we know him mainly for his G & S work, Richard also sings all over Europe and North America in grand opera, specialising in avant garde modern works as well as mainstream.

He has sung Ko-Ko in every revival of Jonathan Miller’s The Mikado at London’s Coliseum during the past twenty-five years, and his frequently re-written ‘little list’ song has become legendary.

Menu choices and tickets (£23 per person) may be had from our Hon. Treasurer Edwin Cowley on 01342 715709.
