“As the incomparable Beatrice and her begrudging match Benedick are tricked into confessing their love for each other, hilarious and heart-stoppingly romantic consequences ensue.

“Complete with jealous schemes and a whole host of delightfully-cheeky characters, this light-hearted love story is sure to entertain and enthral.

“As you picnic beneath midsummer skies, allow the magic of the masquerade to capture your imagination and whisk you far away.”

Director Rebecca Gadsby is well versed in the re-telling of Shakespeare’s plays and is particularly pleased to be working on Much Ado About Nothing once again this year.

“Much Ado is actually my favourite Shakespeare Comedy (but shhh, don’t tell Midsummer that!). I directed it in 2010 and many, many years ago I played Ursula in one production and have also played Beatrice.

“I’m going for a trend at the moment: sexy sword men, strong female characters, idyllic beautiful romance with darker moments. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Gadsby production if it didn’t also have plenty of silly comedy.”

Rebecca added: “There is little else that can compare to the sense of achievement and the genuine glow of satisfaction that comes from producing the works of the greatest writer we shall ever know.”
