Leo has Nutcracker role

Eight-year-old Leo Heller, from Lewes, has been chosen to dance in Nutcracker in Southsea.

English Youth Ballet (EYB) held a highly-competitive audition at the Kings Theatre in May attended by over 200 young dancers.

Leo was selected at the audition and will appear in a professional production of the Nutcracker at the Kings Theatre, Southsea, for three performances from October 4–5.

Company manager Ben Garner said: “The young dancers in the cast will dance alongside EYB’s stunning international principal artists in a professional production. Leo is currently experiencing the life of a professional ballet dancer, working at the King Richard School in an 11-day intensive rehearsal process.

“Working with English Youth Ballet will most probably be the highlight of these talented young dancer’s careers, to date. The audiences watching EYB are in for a unique and exciting experience too. They will be seeing both top international principal artists and the best up-and-coming young talent from their region – sharing the stage.”
