Youngsters sought for School of Rock as show heads to Southampton and Eastbourne

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s smash-hit award-winning School of Rock – The Musical is launching an online search for talented young musicians as it heads to Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre from August 2-7 2021 and Eastbourne’s Congress Theatre from Aug 10-14 2021.

A spokesman said: “With mini-rockers across the country currently being taught at the school of ‘mom and dad,’ David Ian Productions would love to ensure that music practice remains on the timetable and today make a call-out for awesome online audition submissions. School of Rock are casting a number of roles and are on the look out for children aged eight-12 (height under 4ft 10) who are accomplished pop/rock/gospel singers, guitar players who must be able to ‘shred’, bass guitar players, killer drummers and genius keyboard players.

“Based on the hit movie, this new musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band – sensationally performed live by the production’s young actors every night with roof-raising energy. While teaching these pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within. Featuring 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and all the original songs from the movie, this high-octane smash delivers face-melting guitar riffs and touching romance in equally awesome doses. Parents of budding rock stars should visit uktour.schoolofrockthemusical.com for details of the young adult roles available as well as the submission process, rehearsal and tour dates. Entries by Friday, June 19.”
