Sunday September 15, 10am: Meet at Clayton Windmills car park, off the A273 between Pyecombe and Clayton (TQ 303134). The Windmills of Your Mind. We head south across the rolling downs past the golf course to the Chattri Indian Memorial.

After dropping down to a safe crossing of the London – Brighton road it’s gently back up onto the high downs to join the Sussex Border Path. Finally the South Downs Way leads us back past Pyecombe Church to the windmills. 8 miles. Please bring a snack. Dogs welcome on a lead. Leaders: Keith McKenna and Sally Dench, Footprints of Sussex.

Sunday September 15, 10am: Meet at Falmer Station (TQ 347087). Falmer Circular. Falmer is more than a busy road, two universities and the AMEX Stadium! It has woodland walks, a delightful duck-strewn pond and extensive downland views. A two hour 4 mile stroll. (Free parking in University of Sussex on Sundays.) Leader: Geoffrey Mead, Sussex University.

Saturday September 14, 11am: Meet in the public car park which is situated on the west side of and adjacent to the Norfolk Bridge, which spans the River Adur on the A259 at Shoreham.

A level walk around the historic town of Shoreham by Sea. The route of this walk will depend on whether or not the new Shoreham footbridge is open.

Walk via River Adur, old Shoreham Bridge, The Old Town, Shoreham Beach, Houseboat walk. 4½ miles urban, riverside and beach walk. No dogs please. Explorer Map ref: 122/TQ 210049. Sunday September 15, 10.30am: Meet at Hassocks Railway Station car park, Station Approach East, BN6 8JD. £1 parking charge or free parking in nearby residential roads.

Walk via Clayton, Jack and Jill Windmills, Ditchling Beacon (L picnic only), Ditchling village, Oldland Windmill. 8 miles varied terrain with one steep climb. Explorer Map ref: 122/TQ 304155. No dogs please. Note: A short but interesting walk, including three windmills and the delightful village of Ditchling.
