Window on thoughts of members

Horsham Photographic Society is showing its skills in an exhibition at The Horsham Museum until October 22.

Spokeswoman Anne David said: “Nigel Eite and other club members have worked hard with the Museum to put on an excellent exhibition which shows off members’ work at its best. The exhibition is a window on the thoughts of each member and demonstrates their diverse abilities and styles.”

In 2008 the Society was awarded a £5,000 lottery grant from Awards For All.

“This allowed the Society to purchase an excellent laptop, projector and screen and accessories to update other equipment so that the Society is fully prepared for advances in photography.”

Anne added: “Most societies enjoy the experience of more mature members, but it is most heartening to see membership numbers increase with many younger enthusiasts joining. It is evident that very competent work can now be carried out with affordable digital cameras.”

The Society welcomes newcomers to photography, as well as experienced photographers. Anyone who wishes to join can telephone Anne on 01403 259062 or just come along and make yourself known. The Society meets at The Salvation Army, Booth Way, Horsham, RH13 5PZ, every other Wednesday at 7.45-10pm and has a full and varied programme running throughout the year.

“Horsham Photographic Society meetings offer the opportunity to view work from a wide range of speakers, and to listen to the constructive comments of judges at its competitions. Members have the opportunity to enjoy the social atmosphere of the meetings, in which they can share their photographic experiences and problems. Newcomers soon grow in confidence and ability as they join in the Society’s activities.

“Take a look at the club’s website (www.horshamphotographicsociety.co.uk) where you will find a further selection of its work, details of this year’s programme and how to find our meeting place.”
