Jengers Craft Bakery based in Jengers Mead in Billingshurst remains open for business, supplying farm shops and village shops in West Sussex.

Owner Mark Sheath said: "We employ over 16 local people and describe ourselves at the heart of the community in Billingshurst.

"During these unprecedented times we continue to bake six nights a week for our community in Billingshurst and beyond.

"We have introduced further safety measures to protect our team and our customers.

"We are doing local deliveries to customers doorsteps and having wonderful feedback."

Haywards Heath firm RBPM carries out property maintenance, kitchen and bathrooms refurbishments and extensions but following Government guidelines has closed until further notice.

But director Rob Becvar decided to offer free advice on the RBPM Facebook page, with help on DIY questions and queries people may have while working at home.

He said: "We are very aware that there is a big surge in people doing DIY while they are at home. We are posting video tutorials for frequently requested questions and messaging ‘one to one’ with the smaller questions.

"We have had a tremendous response from people, telling us what a big help this is. We want to keep helping as many people as we can so would like to reach more people who may be in need of advice."

Ridgeview Wine Estate is offering free next-day delivery to any order, with £2 from every bottled purchased, donated to Hospitality Action.

A Ridgeview spokesperson said: "Hospitality Action (HA) are co-ordinating an industry-wide emergency appeal to support impacted workers who can apply for a one off-grant of £250 for immediate help. This appeal has raised over £123,000 so far, however the more money raised, the more hospitality workers they can support."

A Sussex meat firm is offering deliveries in Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath, and is offering fruit and veg as well as meat to customers.

Brighton Express Meats was formed by catering trade wholesaler Blakes Foods when the hospitality industry collapsed as a result of Government closures of pubs, restaurants and cafes in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

“It has been a terrible time for all our friends in the hospitality industry, but people still need to eat well and are cooking at home,” said Director, Greg Thatcher.

“Our no-contact home delivery can offer a safer alternative to going out to the shops at this difficult time and the response from local people has been amazingly positive.

“We are delighted to be able to continue to distribute our superb meat, mostly reared by local Sussex farmers, which we normally sell to chefs across the county.”
