The housebuilder’s show home gardens in Haywards Heath and Peacehaven were recently awarded a gold status by the RSPB.

The RSPB accredits each development with a point score for the wildlife-friendly features that are present in its show home garden, with the highest scoring gardens securing a gold status.

Each of the developments has integrated wildlife-friendly features, including bird boxes, hedgehog homes and highways, bee hotels and dead wood features, and composting facilities.

Lynnette St-Quintin, sales director, said: “We are proud of the six-year long partnership between Barratt and the RSPB, which has seen us achieve so much in our mission to give wildlife a home at our developments.

“We hope that our wildlife-friendly show home gardens inspire our new homeowners to get involved and put in some simple measures to make their gardens wildlife-friendly too.”

Barratt Developments has an ongoing partnership with the RSPB to ensure that wildlife can safely co-exist with new residents at its developments.

Nigel Symes, head of sector advice for the RSPB, said: “Barratt Developments’ commitment to making show home gardens wildlife-friendly is a great step forward.

Nature needs us more than ever and creating gardens with wildlife in mind can help to provide much needed food, water and shelter for the nature around us.”
