Gifted violinist Mary Reader (pictured) from Lindfield has achieved 4 A*s in her A Levels at Lancing College and will read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Worcester College, Oxford.

She is one of several, very successful sixth-formers from the private school. Twenty per cent of the A Levels taken were graded A* and 53 per cent were graded A* or A.

Head Master, Jonathan Gillespie, said: “Our sixth formers have gained outstanding results in a wide range of the most challenging academic subjects.

“These grades represent the culmination of much hard work and enthusiasm on the part of our students who have been encouraged throughout their time at Lancing by inspirational staff.”
