Hurstpierpoint College ‘delighted’ to host Albourne Primary as pupils reunite

Hurstpierpoint College was ‘delighted’ to host pupils from Albourne Primary School for three ‘school-but-not-at-school’ days.

As the college had broken up for the holidays, Albourne Primary School’s pupils and teachers could reunite on the campus for the first time since lockdown began.

Brian Schofield, partnerships and liaison lead at Hurstpierpoint College, said: “It has been a real privilege to welcome the staff and pupils from Albourne.

“We always learn a huge amount from Albourne’s outstanding teachers, and have tremendous fun with their brilliant children.

“But it was particularly special this time to see pupils reuniting after 13 weeks of lockdown.”

Years three, four and five took part. Activities included street dance, music, forest school and a mini sports day.

Anne Claxton, headteacher at Albourne Primary, said: “We are so grateful to our neighbours at Hurst College for hosting and leading these three days.

“We look forward to continuing the partnership next year.”

Tim Manly, headteacher at Hurstpierpoint College, said: “I hope this will be the beginning of a greater role in the local educational landscape beyond our own campus and I believe that we may now be at the beginning of a very good chapter for Hurst.”
