Power cut affects parts of Haywards Heath

St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Haywards Heath is due to re-open at 12.30 today (Tuesday) after a power cut, which also affected shops in The Broadway.

The school has put a message on its website asking parents to feed their children before bringing them in.

The message states: “Please ensure your child is fed before returning to school as there will be no hot lunches available.

“Lessons start at 12.45. Day finishes at 3.15pm. Apologies for the inconvenience caused to parents.”

A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “A fault on an underground cable interrupted power supplies to 974 customers in The Broadway area of Haywards Heath at 7.42am today.

UK Power Networks engineers rerouted power supplies to everyone in stages between 9.13am and 10.14am.

“We recognise how difficult it is being without electricity and apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused.”
