A spokesperson said: “As a precaution, the Littlehampton Household Waste and Recycling Site will remain closed on Monday, June 28.

“We apologise for the ongoing inconvenience caused and we will reopen the site as soon as we are able to.”

The council had emailed all those who booked to use the Littlehampton tip this weekend and advised them to attend the Chichester site (Westhampnett) instead.

"No booking needed. Opening times and address can be found here,” the spokesperson said.

"Alternatively people can book at one of our other sites for another day and time.”
