Rachel Brock, headteacher at Estcots Primary School in Bourg-De-Peage Avenue, confirmed one of its pupils tested positive for Covid-19 last week.

She said: “We received information of a positive test so we contacted Public Health England who advised us that everyone in the pupil’s bubble should self isolate.

“We have had no further cases.”

Mrs Brock said she was extremely grateful for her staff who ‘have worked incredibly hard to make sure pupils are safe’.

“This is just unfortunate and hopefully it will be the first and last,” she added.

“We understand how frustrating this is for parents, staff and pupils, but it is really important we protect the health of our pupils so we don’t have any further cases.

“I would like to thank everybody for their understanding and patience.”
