Making the decision to access care services can be difficult to take and get right, but the latest version of the West Sussex Care Guide can help.

Peter Catchpole, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health, said: “The Care Guide is an important part of the County Council’s campaign to help residents Age with Confidence. It can offer vital assistance to people faced with making difficult, often life-changing, decisions about care.”

As well as a benefits and payments checklist, the Care Guide lists care at home services and care homes in West Sussex, split into the northern, southern and western areas of the county.

It also includes a raft of information on day care and community care services, extra care housing schemes and support for carers.

The Care Guide 2014 is jointly produced by West Sussex County Council and the West Sussex Forum, which represents the county’s independent care providers.

It is available to download now on the County Council website at www.westsussex.gov.uk/careguide, where hard copies can also be ordered. Copies are also available at libraries and GP surgeries across West Sussex.

The Guide has once again been awarded a ‘Crystal Mark’ by the Plain English Campaign for the way it clearly presents information in an easy to understand way.
