NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at the Haywards Heath agency nominated charity St Wilfrid’s Hospice, to receive a donation of more than £6450 from a national £2million ‘Agency Giving Fund’ launched by NFU Mutual.

An NFU Mutual spokesman said: “In light of the national emergency our country is continuing to face, NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, announced this £2million fund in February to help local frontline charities during 2021. “This follows £1million of support delivered by NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund in 2020, which helped charities across many sectors to keep their life-changing services going throughout the pandemic.”

To ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed where they’re needed most, NFU Mutual’s Agents, with over 300 offices nationwide, have been given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund.

“St Wilfrid’s Hospice has been making a wonderful difference to our community during these challenging times, and we feel extremely proud to hear how our support has made an impact.

“My father, Stewart Cowans, was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer in April this year. He is determined to remain at home for as long as possible, and the care and support provided by St Wilfrid’s is making this possible.

“When the two nurses first arrived, it was as though angels had been sent to help our family, Cindy and Kayleigh were able to alleviate all of our fears, and stabilise my dad, giving him the best possible quality of life – we shall be forever grateful for their intervention and are so pleased to be able to support this magnificent charity by means of an NFU Mutual donation.”

Laura Eastwood, Head of Fundraising at St Wilfrid’s Hospice, added: “Thank you to the Haywards Heath agency for their nomination, and to the wider NFU Mutual for being so proactive in supporting local charities. It is great to know NFU Mutual are doing such good work in supporting local communities and we are extremely grateful for their support they make a huge difference to local lives.”
