Will England reopen on June 21? There was only one Mid Sussex area where Covid infections rose in the last week of May
Lockdown is gradually lifting across England, but there is one area in Mid Sussex where coronavirus cases are rising.
And although case rates have predominantly fallen across the country, there are still concerns the roadmap out of lockdown could be threatened by the Delta variant.
The latest figures show that the Haywards Heath East area saw an increase in infections in the latest seven-day period, the last week of May.
Its rate of cases per 100,000 was 50.5 on May 28.
However, each of Mid Sussex’s other 16 neighbourhoods recorded fewer than three cases on May 28 – giving a rate of zero.
Suppression means the Government will not say the exact number of cases to avoid identifying individual people.
But they will confirm when cases fall below three – something which has now happened in almost every area of Mid Sussex.
